Hyracotherium

This reproduction of a painting of Eohippus was made to illustrate one card of a set of 30 collector cards from "Tiere der Urwelt" (Animals of the Prehistoric World). From the Series III. The picture was slightly edited (colors, contrast) by the uploader, Hyracotherium

Better known as eohippus, Hyracotherium is a 2-foot-long primitive horselike animal. It has multi-toed feet rather than hooves.

Hyracotherium lives in thick forests, eating low vegetation, constantly on the alert for predators.
