Well-Educated Settlement
Settlements, Well Educated
At a Glance
A Well-Educated Settlement has an unusually literate and knowledgeable population. Tutors, scribes, scholars, record-keepers and skilled craftspeople are common, while books, copied texts and formal instruction circulate more widely than they do in most communities.
Legacy Settlement Rules
Increase Lore by 1 and Society by 1.
Using It in Play
Adventurers are more likely to find people who can read unfamiliar records, identify historical references or point them toward a specialist. Knowledge is still uneven: a well-educated harbour town and a well-educated court city may know very different things.
Adventure Use
Universities are not required. A settlement might earn this quality through temple schools, guild instruction, a bureaucratic tradition, wealthy patrons or generations of specialist craft knowledge.
