Sir Agravain, a complex and conflicted knight of the Round Table, is driven by his desire to uphold chivalry and expose deception within Camelot. With a striking presence and sharp features, Agravain possesses a handsome visage that conceals a troubled soul. As a nephew of King Arthur and a son of King Lot and Morgause, he is entangled in a web of familial ties that both define and haunt him.

Agravain’s true character lies in stark contrast to his heroic brothers, Gawain and Gareth. While they embody nobility and honor, he carries a reputation tainted by malice and villainy. He is notorious for his outspoken enmity towards Queen Guinevere, driven by his discovery of her affair with Lancelot. Though his brothers, Gawain, Gaheris, and Gareth, attempt to dissuade him, Agravain conspires with his half-brother, Mordred, to expose the adulterous lovers.

Tragically, his pursuit of justice leads to his demise, defending Guinevere’s execution from Lancelot’s forces alongside Gaheris and Gareth. It is their deaths that ignite Gawain’s fierce wrath towards Lancelot, as he had previously warned Agravain against spying on him.

While Agravain engages in acts of villainy, such as the murders of Sir Lamorak and Sir Dinadan, there are instances where his actions display shades of nobility. He occasionally embarks on adventures and performs heroic deeds, contradicting the darkness that shrouds his reputation.

However, Agravain bears the burden of a deeply troubled soul, haunted by his own actions. He is known to have committed heinous acts, including the murder of his own mother and the slaying of a unicorn during his youth. Beneath his seemingly callous exterior lies a complex character, intelligent yet tormented, not entirely devoid of sympathy.

Dark Aura. Agravain emanates an aura of malevolence within a 30-foot radius. All enemies who start their turn within the aura must make a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw or suffer disadvantage on attack rolls until the start of their next turn.


  • Malicious Blade. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 12 (2d6 + 3) slashing damage.
  • Ruthless Strike. Agravain makes two malicious blade attacks against a single target. If both attacks hit, the target must make a DC 15 Constitution saving throw or suffer an additional 14 (4d6) necrotic damage as Agravain’s blade drains their life force.
  • Villainous Cunning (Recharge 5-6). He takes a cunning action. He can either take the Disengage or Hide action as a bonus action.


Retributive Strike. When a creature within 5 feet of Agravain deals damage to him, he can make a malicious blade attack against that creature as a reaction.

Lair Actions

Malefic Whispers. Agravain uses a lair action to fill the area with dark whispers that unsettle his foes. All enemies within 30 feet of him must succeed on a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw or be frightened for 1 minute. They can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of their turns, ending the effect on a success.


Sir Agravain is equipped with plate mail armor and wields a malevolent blade, a wicked-looking longsword. He carries a blackened shield adorned with the emblem of his family, the Orkney clan. His armor and weapons are of superior craftsmanship and bear the marks of his nefarious deeds.

  • Legendary Resistance (3/Day). If Agravain fails a saving throw, he can choose to succeed instead.
