Big Owl appears as a Huge white owl or as a Gigantic sallow-skinned hill giant with greasy hair and round yellow eyes. He is a cannibal spirit who hunts the White Mountain Apache, and is well nigh indestructible. Despite being defeated and even wounded by his brother (a Demigod), he is never killed. Big Owl only speaks Giant.

Combat

As a hill giant, Big Owl prefers to fight from high, rocky outcroppings, where he can pelt opponents with large rocks and boulders while limiting the risk to himself. He loves to make overrun attacks against smaller creatures when he first joins the battle. Thereafter, he stands fast and swings away with his massive club. If he finds that he is at a disadvantage, he assumes his owl form and flies away.

Change Shape (Ex): Big Owl can assume the appearance of a Huge white owl.

Damage Reduction: As a quasi-deity, Big Owl has damage reduction 10/epic.

Fire Resistance: As a quasi-deity, Big Owl has fire resistance 5.

Immunities: As a quasi-deity, Big Owl has the following immunities. Unless otherwise indicated, these immunities do not apply if the attacker is a deity of equal or higher rank.

Transmutation: A quasi-deity is immune to polymorphing, petrification, or any other attack that alters its form. Any shape-altering powers the quasi-deity might have work normally on itself.

Energy Drain, Ability Drain, Ability Damage: A quasi-deity is not subject to energy drain, ability drain, or ability damage.

Mind-Affecting Effects: A quasi-deity is immune to mind-affecting effects (charms, compulsions, phantasms, patterns, and morale effects).

Immortality: Quasi-deities are naturally immortal and cannot die from natural causes. Quasi-deities do not age, and they do not need to eat, sleep, or breathe. The only way for a quasi-deity to die is through special circumstances, usually by being slain in magical or physical combat.

Rapid Shapeshifter (Ex): Big Owl can shift between its hill giant and owl forms as a swift action that it can perform as often as once per round.

Rock Catching (Ex): Big Owl can catch Small, Medium, or Large rocks (or projectiles of similar shape).
Once per round, a giant that would normally be hit by a rock can make a Reflex save to catch it as a free action. The DC is 15 for a Small rock, 20 for a Medium one, and 25 for a Large one. (If the projectile provides a magical bonus on attack rolls, the DC increases by that amount.) The giant must be ready for and aware of the attack in order to make a rock catching attempt.

Rock Throwing (Ex): Adult giants are accomplished rock throwers and receive a +1 racial bonus on attack rolls when throwing rocks. A giant of at least Large size can hurl rocks weighing 40 to 50 pounds each (Small objects) up to five range increments. The size of the range increment varies with the giant’s variety. A Huge giant can hurl rocks of 60 to 80 pounds (Medium objects). Big Owl can hurl rocks of 90-120 pounds (Large objects).

The range increment is 120 feet for a hill giant’s thrown rocks.

Spell Resistance: A quasi-deity has Spell Resistance 32.

Superior Low-Light Vision (Ex): Big owl can see five times as far as a human can in dim light.

Thunderous Voice: Three times per day, Big Owl can project his voice so loudly that he causes all those who hear it to tremble with fear. Anyone within a 100 ft. radius become panicked (Will DC 15 success means that the listener is Frightened). The effect lasts for 24 hours.

Skills: Big Owl has +8 racial bonus on Listen checks and a +4 racial bonus on Spot checks. *When in flight, Big Owl gain a +8 bonus on Move Silently checks.

Notes: I gave Big Owl the bonus feat of Wingover in keeping with his owl form.

If you want him to be a better owl and less combative make the following changes:

Big Owl loses the following feats: Cleave, Improved Sunder, Power Attack and gains the following feats: Flyby Attack, Hover, and Snatch.
