Flidais is a powerful and enigmatic figure in Celtic mythology, often associated with fertility, hunting, and wild animals. She is known to be both benevolent and unpredictable, with a deep connection to the natural world that fuels her actions and motivations.

As a character, Flidais embodies the duality of nature, with a wild and unpredictable side that can be both fearsome and awe-inspiring. She is fiercely independent and refuses to be bound by anyone or anything, always following her own path and doing what she thinks is best for herself and those she cares about.

At her core, Flidais is driven by a deep love for the natural world and a desire to protect and preserve it at all costs. She is a fierce defender of the forests and wild places, and will stop at nothing to ensure their continued existence. Her goals are often shrouded in mystery, but her actions always seem to be in service of the greater good, even if they are sometimes difficult to understand.

Flidais stands tall at 6 feet and has a slim yet athletic build. She has long, flowing red hair that falls down to her waist and piercing green eyes that seem to glow with an otherworldly power. Her skin is smooth and has a slight golden sheen, and she wears a cloak made of leaves and fur that blends seamlessly with the forest around her. Her movements are graceful and fluid, as if she is one with nature itself.

Despite her formidable powers and reputation, Flidais is not invincible. She has her weaknesses and vulnerabilities, and is not immune to the passions and desires that drive us all. But even in her moments of weakness, she remains a force to be reckoned with, a wild and untamed being whose power and mystery inspire both fear and awe.

Legendary Actions

  • Move. Flidais moves up to her speed without provoking opportunity attacks.
  • Detect Magic. Flidais casts detect magic without using a spell slot.
  • Thunderbolt. Flidais unleashes a bolt of lightning at a creature within 120 feet. The target must make a DC 28 Dexterity saving throw, taking 33 (6d10) lightning damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
  • Moonbeam. Flidais casts moonbeam without using a spell slot.

Lair Actions

On initiative count 20 (losing ties), Flidais can take a lair action to cause one of the following effects:

  • The ground rumbles and trembles, causing all creatures within 60 feet to make a DC 28 Dexterity saving throw or be knocked prone.
  • Flidais causes a rain of magical arrows to rain down in a 60-foot radius centered on a point she chooses within 120 feet of her. Each creature in that area must make a DC 28 Dexterity saving throw, taking 44 (8d10) piercing damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
  • The air around Flidais crackles with electricity, causing all creatures within 60 feet to take 22 (4d10) lightning damage and be stunned until the end of their next turn, unless they succeed on a DC 28 Constitution saving throw.

Regional Effects

The region around Flidais’ domain is infused with her divine power, which creates the following effects:

  • Plants and animals within 6 miles of Flidais’ domain grow faster and stronger, and animals are more likely to give birth to healthy offspring.
  • The weather in the region is influenced by Flidais’ mood. When she is pleased, the skies are clear and sunny, and when she is angered, storms and lightning strikes are common.
  • The creatures within the region are more in tune with the natural world, gaining advantage on Wisdom (Survival) checks made to track or navigate through the terrain. Additionally, they gain a +2 bonus to attack rolls and damage rolls against aberrations and fiends.

Divine Artifact: Horn of the Huntress

Flidais wields a powerful magical horn, which she can blow to call upon her animal allies or to signal her presence to her worshippers. The horn has the following properties:

  • Once per day, Flidais can use an action to blow the horn, summoning a pack of eight giant elk, who will serve her for up to 24 hours or until they are killed. The elk have the same statistics as the giant elk found in the Monster Manual.
  • Any creature within 300 feet of the horn’s sound must make a DC 28 Wisdom saving throw or become charmed by Flidais for up to 1 hour. The creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on a success.
  • The horn can be used to cast the spell call lightning, using Flidais’ spellcasting ability, without expending a spell slot. The horn regains this property at dawn each day.

Flidais’ Role in Mythology

Flidais is a powerful and mysterious goddess, associated with the hunt, nature, and fertility. She is often depicted as a shape-shifting woman who can transform into a deer or other animal at will, and she is said to have a retinue of magical animals who aid her in her hunts. In some myths, she is also associated with milk and dairy products, and is said to have the power to cause cows to produce more milk or to dry up their milk if she is angered.

In Celtic mythology, Flidais is often portrayed as a protector of the land and its inhabitants, and she is sometimes associated with the concept of sovereignty. She is said to have the power to bless crops and herds, and her presence is seen as a sign of good fortune and prosperity. In some stories, she is also associated with the Otherworld, and is said to have the power to guide mortals into the realm of the gods.

Currently

Flidais roams the countryside in search of game, her keen senses guiding her to the best hunting grounds. She is a skilled huntress, able to track even the most elusive prey. As she travels, she observes the world around her with a mix of curiosity and wariness.

In the 1450s, Flidais is wary of the changing world. The rise of human civilization and the spread of new technology threaten the natural world she holds dear. She has seen firsthand the destruction wrought by human greed and ambition, and she is determined to protect the balance of nature.

Flidais is not opposed to all human influence, however. She has formed an alliance with certain groups of humans, providing them with game and other resources in exchange for their assistance in protecting the natural world. She believes that a balance can be struck between humans and nature, but that it requires careful management and a deep understanding of the interconnectedness of all things.

Flidais is not content to simply maintain the status quo, however. She is a visionary, with a deep understanding of the potential of the natural world. She dreams of a future where humans and nature coexist in harmony, where the bounty of the earth is used wisely and sustainably. To achieve this future, she knows that she must work tirelessly to protect the natural world, to educate and inspire others, and to create a new paradigm of human-nature interaction.

As Flidais travels, she interacts with the world in her own unique way. She avoids human settlements when she can, preferring the wild places where she feels most at home. But when she does encounter humans, she is careful to make her intentions known. She does not seek conflict, but she will defend herself and the natural world if necessary.

For Flidais, the 1450s are a time of both opportunity and challenge. The changing world presents new dangers, but also new possibilities. She is determined to navigate these challenges with grace and wisdom, to protect the natural world and help create a better future for all.
