Robot, Annihilator Robot: The Scourge of Steel

Annihilator Robot
Create

The Annihilator Robot is a massive, scorpion-like construct towering over 20 feet tall, forged from dark, gleaming metal and adorned with rows of jagged, armored plating. Its jointed, arachnid legs end in razor-sharp talons, capable of both scuttling with unnerving speed and clinging to vertical surfaces. The annihilator’s tail arches high above, ending in a plasma lance that crackles with lethal, otherworldly energy. Mounted on its forearms are integrated chain guns that hum with an endless supply of ammunition, ready to unleash torrents of suppressing fire upon any threat. Its movements are punctuated by tortured, metallic shrieks and the thrum of power, echoing its cold and relentless nature.

Annihilators are single-minded agents of destruction, programmed to raze structures, kill foes, and lay waste to anything in their path. However, they also exhibit a chilling, unexplained tendency to collect the unconscious and dying from battlefields, dragging these individuals to unknown locations, leaving their true purpose and programming a terrifying mystery.

They are most often found in desolate environments—ruined cities, abandoned industrial complexes, and wastelands—places where their destructive tendencies have ample room to unfold without constraint. Despite this, annihilators are known to wander far and wide in search of densely populated areas to decimate, driven by some unknown directive.

In combat, an annihilator employs a brutal Modus Operandi: it begins by assessing enemy strengths before unleashing a barrage of chain gun fire to pin down opponents, followed by swift, vicious melee strikes with its claws. It often uses its plasma lance to eliminate grouped or particularly resilient foes, showing a calculated and deadly efficiency.

While the true motivation of these machines is unclear, annihilators appear programmed for relentless extermination and devastation. Their tendency to gather unconscious captives suggests that they may be collecting resources, data, or even experimenting, driven by a hidden directive left by their creators—one that may be far more sinister than simple destruction.

Lore

The Annihilator Robot is a colossal construct of unknown origin, rumored to have been created as a weapon of mass destruction in an ancient war. With its scorpion-like form, it is a harbinger of doom, driven to eradicate all that stands in its way. Legends tell of its rampages through towns and villages, where it leaves nothing but destruction in its wake, gathering prisoners for purposes unknown. Despite its fearsome power, some speculate that it is not entirely without purpose, as it often seems to operate with a certain level of sentience.

Role in the Game

The Annihilator Robot serves as a formidable foe in high-level campaigns, a challenge for parties that have grown accustomed to overcoming powerful monsters. Its diverse attack capabilities and legendary actions allow it to control the battlefield, making it a memorable encounter that tests the party’s strategy and teamwork.

The first known annihilator rampaged, destroying dozens of towns and villages before retreating with more than a dozen prisoners. Since then, increasing numbers of these immense and devastating robots have been spotted. Annihilators seem driven to destroy structures and slaughter living foes, yet they often gather up the dying and unconscious from battlefields – their purpose for keeping these battered but still-living prisoners is unknown.

SPECIAL ABILITIES
Booster Jets (Ex) As a swift action up to 10 times per hour, an annihilator robot can gain a Fly speed of 60 feet (poor maneuverability) for a duration of 1 minute.

Chain Guns (Ex) These advanced firearms have a range increment of 200 feet, automatically reload as a free action, and never misfire. An annihilator’s core can process scrap metal into new ammunition, effectively giving the annihilator infinite ammo with these weapons.

Combined Arms (Ex) When taking a full attack action, an annihilator can attack with melee and ranged integrated weapons simultaneously.

Plasma Lance (Ex) As a standard action once every 3 rounds, an annihilator may fire a 120-foot-long line of plasma from its tail. All creatures in this area take 20d6 points of plasma damage (Reflex DC 22 halves). The save DC is Intelligence-based.

Suppressing Fire (Ex) As a standard action, an annihilator can use its chain guns to fire in a 100-foot cone. When it does so, it makes a single chain gun attack against every target in this area.
