Legacy Rules
An almost imperceptible magical sheath surrounds the drinker, allowing easier movement through water and granting a +10 competence bonus on Swim checks for 1 hour.
Using the Elixir
The elixir improves swimming skill; it does not state that the drinker can breathe underwater or ignore every aquatic hazard. Currents, depth, visibility and the need for air continue to matter unless another rule says otherwise.
Edition Note
This is a legacy skill-enhancing magic item. Later editions handle swimming and movement differently, so preserve the +10 Swim bonus only in the rules context that uses it.
