Parrot

This brightly-colored bird has a strong, curved bill and stands almost two feet tall. The sparkle in its eyes belie a clear Intelligence greater than that many other animals possess.

TACTICS

Parrots are not predatory by nature and are more likely to flee than fight. They do not use their claws in battle, but an angry parrot can make a fierce attack with its beak.

The parrot is a colorful bird native to tropical climes. They range from 1 foot to 3 feet in length.

Parrots are natural mimics, and are famed for their ability to repeat words and short phrases they have been taught. They are seed eaters, and not generally aggressive, but their powerful beaks are fully capable of severing a finger that is poked too close to them. They can manipulate objects using their feet and beaks with enough Dexterity to put a key in a lock and turn it if they have been trained to do so.

SPECIAL ABILITIES

Familiar   The master of a parrot familiar gains a +3 bonus on Appraise checks.   Sound Mimicry (Ex) Parrots are excellent at learning and copying sounds they hear often, from creaking boards to even specific voices. The parrot makes a Bluff check opposed by the listener’s Sense Motive check to recognize the mimicry, although if the listener isn’t keenly familiar with the person or type of sounds mimicked, it takes a -8 penalty on its Sense Motive check. The parrot has a +8 racial bonus on its Bluff check to mimic sounds it has listened to for at least 1 week. This ability does not allow the parrot to speak or understand languages, it simply imitates them.

Parrot Companion
