Jupiter is the fifth planet from the Sun and the largest in the Solar System. It is a giant planet a gas giant.

Jupiter has 79 known moons, including the four large Galilean moons explored by Galileo Galilei. Ganymede, the largest of these, has a diameter greater than that of the planet Mercury.
