  • Prerequisite Improved Initiative.
  • Benefit If you charge a foe during the first round of combat (or the surprise round, if you are allowed to act in it), you can make a full attack against the opponent charged.
  • Normal Without this feat, you may only make a single attack as part of a charge.

How Dire Charge Works

Dire Charge changes the opening charge of a combat. If you charge during the first round, or during a surprise round in which you are allowed to act, you can make a full attack against the opponent at the end of the charge instead of the single attack normally allowed.

Dire Charge Example

An epic fighter wins initiative and charges an enemy in the first round. Instead of making one charge attack, Dire Charge allows the fighter’s full attack routine against that opponent. On later rounds, ordinary charge rules apply again.

Important Limits

  • The benefit is tied to the first round of combat or an eligible surprise round.
  • You must still make a legal charge and reach the chosen opponent.
  • The feat requires Improved Initiative.
