Ion (Kyle Rayner)

Kyle Rayner is known as Green Lantern, a member of the intergalactic police force known as the Green Lantern Corps. He is currently operating under the alias of Ion.
Created by writer Ron Marz and artist Darryl Banks, Rayner first appeared in Green Lantern vol. 3, #48, as part of the Emerald Twilight storyline, in which DC Comics controversially replaced perennial Green Lantern Hal Jordan with the younger Rayner in order to attract younger readers. Following Jordan’s return to GL status in the 20042005 limited series Green Lantern: Rebirth, and the 2005 crossover event Infinite Crisis, Rayner has again undertaken the identity of Ion, a role he had temporarily taken previously during his initial run as a Green Lantern. Rayner is the son of Aaron and Maura Rayner.

Will Force Ion possesses an internalized Green Lantern power, and so wields power beyond that of normal Green Lanterns.
The following effects are always active upon him:
- +25 bonus to armor class (deflection), saves, and initiative.
- x2 wound points
- Rayner adds his Charisma modifier to all attack and melee damage rolls.
- Unarmed strikes can deal lethal or nonlethal damage, and deal +5d6 force damage.
Comprehend languages, discern location, Disguise Self, find the path, project image, tongues at will. Rayner may concentrate on multiple projected images at a time with no penalty. All projected images can make independent and intelligent usage of Rayner’s Will force.
Construct Ion may form constructs similar to those of Green Lanterns. (See Creating a Green Lantern Ring construct) Creating a construct
is a standard action. Ion can create twenty constructs as a full round action. Ion’s constructs are considered to be created from a DC 70 Concentration check.
Gates Ion can open a gate to any point in space or time. It is a full round action to create a gate. A gate remains open for 1d4 rounds after Rayner goes through it, unless he chooses to immediately close it.
Healing Ion possesses a limited ability to heal. As a full round action, he can restore 10d8 worth of vitality points. If focused for a minute, he can restore the same amount of wound points, ability point damage, or negative levels.
Increase Ability Ion may draw upon his power to further increase his abilities. He may gain a +30 enhancement bonus to an ability score, attack roll, damage roll, skill check, or his saving throws for 1d4 rounds. Increasing an ability is a swift action.
Power Blast Ion can channel his power into a powerful blast of energy. This blast is a ray with a 700 foot range. The blast deals 35d8 damage, half of which is cosmic. The rest of the damage may be of any type or types Ion chooses, although force is the default.
Ion may instead affect an area with this blast, in which case it is either a 50 foot cone or a 100 foot long line. (The line’s other dimensions are 10×10 ft) An area blast allows a Reflex save (DC 34) for half damage. Using the ray is an attack action; either area attack takes a standard action.
Shield Ion can create a personal barrier that absorbs all attacks, energy and spells. The shield can withstand 700 points of damage. Ion can also create an area shield. The shield has a square area of 7000 feet, although this total area can be shaped as he sees fit. Additionally, he may double the area, at the cost of halving the total damage absorbed by the shield. Creating a shield is a standard action.
Speed Ion may gain a temporary Super Speed Level of 15 if he so chooses. This lasts for 1 minute. It takes a full round action for Ion to increase his speed.
Courageous Kyle recieves a +8 bonus on Will saves against fear and related effects.
Minor Omnipotence (Former Power) During his original tenure as Ion, Kyle contained the entirety of the Green Lantern energies. To reflect his powers during this portion of his career, double the special effects from Will Force he possesses currently, and increase any DCs by 20. Double his damage reduction, energy resistance, fast healing and Spell Resistance. He also possessed a +20 enhancement bonus to all of his ability scores. (The DC increase already takes this into account)
