Create

Clockwork Owl of AthenaA gleaming brass-and-iron automaton with glowing ruby eyes, this small construct glides silently through temples, ruins, and forests, serving as an unerring scout and loyal guardian of Athena’s champions; precise, intelligent, and relentless, it observes, guides, and strikes with mechanical perfection, blending divine purpose with ingenious craftsmanship.

Appearance:
A brilliantly crafted automaton of brass and iron, the Clockwork Owl gleams with a subtle metallic luster. Its ruby eyes pulse with uncanny intelligence, and its articulated wings and clawed talons move with unnerving precision. Tiny gears and cogs shift audibly beneath its feathers, giving the impression of a living mechanism imbued with purpose and vigilance.

Behaviour:
Methodical and alert, the Clockwork Owl watches silently from high perches, calculating the perfect moment to act. Though mechanical, it exhibits signs of curiosity and unwavering loyalty, particularly toward those who honor Athena.

Habitat:
Found primarily in temples, sanctuaries, or artificers’ workshops, these constructs also patrol forests, ruins, and strategic high ground when deployed. They favor vantage points that allow broad surveillance and quick, silent flight.

Modus Operandi:
The Clockwork Owl excels in reconnaissance, surveillance, and tactical guidance. Its keen vision pierces darkness and concealment, and it can strike swiftly with talons when necessary. It communicates through subtle mechanical gestures or soft whirring tones, silently directing allies or warning of danger.

Motivation:
Bound by loyalty to Athena, the Clockwork Owl seeks to protect knowledge, aid champions, and thwart evil. Every action is guided by purpose, strategy, and an instinctive drive to maintain order and vigilance.

Boubo, Clockwork Owl of Athena
Bubo owl in Clash of the Titans

Construct: Immune to mind-influencing effects, poison, disease, and similar effects. Not subject to critical hits, subdual damage, ability damage, energy drain, or death from massive damage.

Magic Immunity (Ex): Boubo is completely resistant to all magical and supernatural effects.

Slow (Sp): Can use a slow spell as a free action once every 2 rounds. The effect has a range of 10ft. and duration of 7 rounds, requiring a successful Will save (DC 15) to negate. The ability is otherwise the same as the spell.

Crafted by Hephaestus, Boubo is one of Athena’s most treasured possessions. Standing approximately 2 feet tall, he moves via an intricate series of mechanical gears and windings held together by magical forces. Capable of telepathic communication with any creature capable of language, Boubo is most often used as a messenger sent by Athena to those she favors most. On very rare occasions, Athena may send Boubo to aid mortals who are lost or in dire need. If attacked, he will use his abilities to escape as quickly as possible.

If somehow reduced to zero or less hit points, he disappears in a flash of light only to reappear in the workshop of Hephaestus for repair. Athena, instantly aware of the events, shall immediately enact her fury upon those responsible for harming her beloved Boubo.
