Petar was a well-respected farmer and family man, known for his hard work and dedication to his community. However, his life took a dark turn when he became ill with an unknown disease. Despite the best efforts of his family and local healers, Petar’s condition only worsened. He eventually died and was buried in the village cemetery.

But soon after his death, strange things began to happen in Kisiljevo. Several villagers claimed to have seen Petar wandering the streets at night, and others reported being visited by him in their dreams. Some even claimed that Petar had attacked and bitten them, draining their blood and leaving them weak and sick.

As the rumors spread, fear and panic gripped the village. The local priest, convinced that Petar was a vampire, led a group of villagers to his grave. They exhumed his body and found that it had not decomposed, leading them to believe that he was indeed a vampire. They proceeded to drive a stake through his heart and burn his body, hoping to rid the village of the evil that had plagued them.

Today, Petar Blagojević is remembered as the first documented vampire in history. Though his true nature and the cause of his illness remain a mystery, his story has inspired countless legends and works of fiction.

Shapechanger. If Petar Blagojević isn’t in running water or sunlight, he can use his action to polymorph into a Tiny bat or a Medium wolf, or back into its true form.

Legendary Resistance (3/day). If Petar fails a saving throw, he can choose to succeed instead.

Regeneration. Petar Blagojević regains 20 hit points at the start of its turn if it has at least 1 hit point and isn’t in running water or sunlight. If Petar takes radiant damage or damage from holy water, this trait doesn’t function at the start of Petar’s next turn.

Spider Climb. Petar can climb difficult surfaces, including upside down on ceilings, without needing to make an ability check.

Vampire Weaknesses. Petar has the following flaws:

  • Forbiddance. Petar can’t enter a residence without an invitation from one of the occupants.
  • Harmed by Running Water. Petar takes 20 acid damage if it ends its turn in running water.
  • Stake to the Heart. If a piercing weapon made of wood is driven into Petar’s heart while he is incapacitated in his resting place, he is paralyzed until the stake is removed.
  • Sunlight Hypersensitivity. Petar takes 20 radiant damage when it starts its turn in sunlight. While in sunlight, it has disadvantage on attack rolls and ability checks.

Actions

  • Multiattack. Petar Blagojević can use his Frightful Presence. He then makes two attacks, either with his claws or his bite.
  • Claws. Melee Weapon Attack: +11 to hit, reach 5 ft., one creature. Hit: 16 (2d10 + 5) slashing damage. Instead of dealing damage, Petar can grapple the target (escape DC 20).
  • Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +11 to hit, reach 5 ft., one willing creature, or a creature that is grappled by Petar, incapacitated, or restrained. Hit: 16 (2d10 + 5) piercing damage plus 20 (6d6) necrotic damage. The target’s hit point maximum is reduced by an amount equal to the necrotic damage taken, and Petar regains hit points equal to that amount. The reduction lasts until the target finishes a long rest. The target dies if this effect reduces its hit point maximum to 0.
  • **Frightful Presence. Petar’s mere presence can terrify his enemies. Each creature of Petar’s choice within 30 feet of him and aware of him must succeed on a DC 20 Wisdom saving throw or become frightened for 1 minute. A creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success. If a creature’s saving throw is successful or the effect ends for it, the creature is immune to Petar’s Frightful Presence for the next 24 hours.

Legendary Actions

Petar can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action option can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature’s turn. Petar regains spent legendary actions at the start of his turn.

  • Move. Petar moves up to his speed without provoking opportunity attacks.
  • Claw Attack. Petar makes one claw attack.
  • Bite Attack (Costs 2 Actions). Petar makes one bite attack.

Lair Actions

On initiative count 20 (losing initiative ties), Petar can take a lair action to cause one of the following effects; he can’t use the same effect two rounds in a row:

  • The ground in a 20-foot radius around Petar becomes difficult terrain for creatures other than undead.
  • Petar calls forth a swarm of bats. The swarm appears within 60 feet of Petar and acts immediately.
  • The ambient temperature drops sharply, causing non-undead creatures within 60 feet of Petar to feel cold and suffer disadvantage on attack rolls until the start of Petar’s next turn.

Equipment

Petar doesn’t carry any equipment. As a vampire, he doesn’t need any material possessions to survive or thrive. However, he might possess a few items that hold sentimental value to him, such as family heirlooms or trinkets from his mortal life.

CR level: 20

Magic Items

Ring of Regeneration. Petar wears a ring that grants him additional regenerative abilities. In addition to his existing regeneration trait, he regains an additional 10 hit points at the start of each of his turns.

Amulet of Necrotic Resistance. Petar wears an amulet that grants him resistance to necrotic damage.
