- Prerequisites: Strength 13, Cleave , Power Attack, base attack bonus +4.
- Benefit: This feat works like Cleave, except that there is no limit to the number of times you can use it per round.
- Special: A fighter may select Great Cleave as one of his fighter bonus feats.
What Great Cleave Changes
Great Cleave extends the normal Cleave sequence. Cleave normally limits the extra attack it grants to once per round; Great Cleave removes that limit. The feat does not create extra attacks by itself: each additional attack still depends on satisfying the normal Cleave trigger and having another eligible creature within reach.
When Great Cleave Is Strongest
- Groups of weaker enemies: the feat is most effective when several opponents can be dropped in succession.
- Front-line melee characters: characters who are already built around Power Attack and Cleave gain the most from extending the chain.
- Dense battlefields: Great Cleave matters only while another valid target remains within reach after each foe falls.
Great Cleave Example
A warrior drops an adjacent enemy and uses Cleave to attack a second foe. If that second foe also drops, Great Cleave allows another eligible attack, and the sequence can continue while each attack triggers Cleave and another target remains available. Missing an attack or failing to drop the target ends that sequence.
