Divine Artifact

The Obsidian Mirror

Wondrous Item, artifact (requires attunement by a creature of chaotic alignment)

While attuned to the Obsidian Mirror, the bearer gains the ability to cast the true seeing spell at will. Additionally, when a creature looks into the mirror, the mirror reveals their true nature, forcing them to make a Wisdom saving throw (DC 30). On a failed save, the creature is overwhelmed by their true nature and suffers a level of exhaustion. On a successful save, the creature is unaffected.

If the bearer of the mirror is a worshipper of Tezcatlipoca, they gain an additional benefit: once per long rest, they can call upon Tezcatlipoca’s power to cast a version of the true polymorph spell that can only be used to turn themselves into any humanoid form. This transformation lasts for 24 hours or until it is ended by the bearer.

Note: The Obsidian Mirror is an artifact and as such is intended to be a powerful and rare item in your campaign. DMs should use caution when introducing such items to their game.

Challenge Rating: 30 (155,000 XP)
