Uusimaa is a province in the south of the territory of Finland it borders Finland Proper, Tavastia, Savonia, and Karelia.

Along with the rest of Southern and Western Finland, Uusimaa is ruled by the Kingdom of Sweden. Coastal Uusimaa had earlier been semi-deserted, but was soon populated by Swedish settlers.
