Daemon, Romshidaemon

Daemon, Romshidaemon
“ RomƝiwamnari’ “ © A Book of Creatures. Accessed @abookofcreatures here

Taken from the Creature Codex

This hideous biped resembles a hybrid of a bird and a bat, with small leathery wings and large scaled talons. Its beak is asymmetrical, like a pair of scissors.

Romshidaemons are vile creatures that embody death by dismemberment. Their scissor-like beaks can snip through muscle and bone as if they were paper, and even the survivors of romshidaemon attacks typically bear hideous scars or are permanently maimed. They are dim-witted and violent creatures that frequently serve as enforcers or guards for more intelligent daemons.

On Abaddon, romshidaemons live among desolate caves and dark forests, and when called to the Material Plane they gravitate towards similar environments. They are capable of concealing their forms and those of their allies with illusion magic, which they use to lull victims into a false sense of security or spy on their enemies. Although romshidaemons do not require sustenance, they “feed” on the spirits of the dead and have a taste for ghosts and other incorporeal undead. Some people living in haunted towns may even briefly welcome the presence of a romshidaemon because of the reduction of evil spirits, but such relief is short lived due to the daemon’s own predations.

A romshidaemon stands ten feet tall and weighs five hundred pounds. Despite their resemblance to flying animals, they themselves are flightless, but their flabby wings assist them in long jumps and other acrobatic maneuvers.
