As an abstract concept, Ōmeteōtl doesn’t have a physical appearance or persona that can be described in the traditional sense. However, they are often depicted as a duality or unity of two deities, Tonacatecuhtli and Tonacacihuatl, who represent male and female energy, respectively.

Tonacatecuhtli is often depicted as an old man with a long beard, wearing a simple white loincloth and carrying a staff. Tonacacihuatl is depicted as a young woman with a headdress adorned with flowers and carrying a flowered scepter.

In his serpent-jaguar form, Ōmeteōtl has a long, sinuous body with scales and fur. He has the head of a jaguar with sharp teeth and piercing yellow eyes, and a serpentine tail that can coil around his prey. His body is often adorned with feathers, jewelry, and other decorative elements.

As a cosmic entity, Ōmeteōtl has no physical form, but is often depicted as a radiant, multicolored aura or energy field. He embodies the essence of creation and destruction, order and chaos, male and female, light and dark, and other opposing forces in the universe.

Ōmeteōtl is the creator god of the Aztec pantheon and is considered to be the source of all existence. They are often referred to as the “dual god” or “lord of duality” because of their association with both male and female energy. Their purpose is to maintain balance and order in the universe by embodying the complementary forces of creation and destruction, life and death.

As the creator of the universe, Ōmeteōtl oversees all aspects of existence and is responsible for the cycles of birth, life, death, and rebirth. They are often invoked in rituals and ceremonies as a source of guidance and wisdom, as well as for protection and blessings.

Overall, Ōmeteōtl is an abstract concept that embodies the fundamental principles of duality and balance in the Aztec worldview.

Ometeotl

Ometeotl is a mystery. The leader of the Aztec Pantheon, he is attributed the feat of creating himself from the nothingness before time. He represents duality. Male/female, good/evil, law/evil, life/death, are all parts of hi, in equal proportions. He is among the most aloof deities, appearing in any form only if his very existence is threatened. When he does appear, he is completely invisible to any form of sight, including the spells and powers of other deities. His realm is completely unreachable.

Divine Artifact

Staff of Creation

Staff, artifact (requires attunement by a spellcaster)

The Staff of Creation is a legendary artifact that has the power to shape reality itself. It is said to have been created by Ōmeteōtl, the Aztec god of creation and dualism. The staff is made of pure gold and is adorned with intricate carvings of cosmic symbols and figures.

Properties:

  • Sentience: The Staff of Creation is a sentient magical item with Intelligence 20, Wisdom 20, and Charisma 20. It can communicate telepathically with its wielder and has the ability to speak, read, and understand all languages.
  • Spells: The staff has 20 charges, and it regains 2d8+4 charges daily at dawn. While holding the staff, you can use an action to expend some of its charges to cast one of the following spells (save DC 25):
    • Wish (10 charges)
    • True Polymorph (9 charges)
    • Miracle (8 charges)
    • Time Stop (7 charges)
    • Gate (6 charges)
    • Sunburst (5 charges)
    • Wall of Force (4 charges)
    • Etherealness (3 charges)
    • Fly (2 charges)
    • Shield (1 charge)
  • Shape Reality: The Staff of Creation has the unique power to shape reality itself. As an action, you can expend 10 charges to create a permanent alteration to reality within a 100-foot radius centered on the staff. This can include things like creating new terrain features, altering the properties of matter, or even bringing objects or creatures into existence. The extent of these changes is up to the DM’s discretion.
  • Defense: The Staff of Creation is considered a +3 magical weapon. It also grants its wielder resistance to all damage types.
  • Teleportation: The staff has the ability to teleport its wielder to any location they can see within 1 mile. This ability can be used once per day.

Curse:

  • The Staff of Creation is a powerful and dangerous artifact, and its use comes at a great cost. Any creature that wields the staff for an extended period of time will eventually become obsessed with using it, to the point of neglecting all other responsibilities and relationships. This obsession will eventually lead to the wielder’s downfall, either through madness, betrayal, or destruction.

Currently in the World

In the beginning, Ōmeteōtl was a force of creation, a being of immense power and intelligence, but without form or identity. He watched over the universe and saw the birth and death of countless stars and galaxies, but remained apart from them, an observer and not a participant. However, as time passed, he began to realize the need for a form and a name, for a way to interact with the world and influence its destiny.

And so Ōmeteōtl took on a physical form, one that was part man and part beast, with feathers and fur, and a face that was both fierce and wise. His appearance was striking and otherworldly, and he radiated an aura of power that few could withstand. With this new form, he set out to shape the universe according to his vision, using his intellect and his strength to mold the world into something greater.

As he journeyed through the cosmos, Ōmeteōtl encountered other gods and beings, some of whom he befriended and others whom he clashed with. He formed alliances and rivalries, and his actions affected the course of history in countless ways. He became known as a god of creation, but also of destruction, for he believed that sometimes it was necessary to tear down in order to build anew.

In the present day, Ōmeteōtl still watches over the world, but his influence is more subtle. He has withdrawn somewhat from the affairs of mortals, content to let them chart their own course, but he still guides events from behind the scenes, nudging them in the direction that he believes will lead to the greatest good. His goals are still the same as they have always been: to create, to destroy, and to shape the universe in his image. He is a being of immense power, and those who seek his favor or oppose him do so at their peril.
