“The Wonderful Wizard of Oz,” published in 1900, quickly became a popular children’s book and has since become a classic, adapted into numerous films, plays, and musicals. Baum continued the series with 13 more books, each following the adventures of Dorothy and her friends in the magical land of Oz.

In addition to his children’s books, Baum was also an entrepreneur and a champion of women’s suffrage. He founded a magazine for window dressers and toy makers and was an early advocate for women’s right to vote.

Today, L. Frank Baum is remembered as a beloved author whose work has captured the imaginations of generations of children. His legacy lives on through his stories, which have been adapted and reimagined in countless ways, and continue to enchant and entertain audiences around the world.
